Should you paddle out? Ask the buoys.

SurfWatch 805 is a small, private surf forecast for three spots and the crews who surf them. It reads the NOAA buoys and an open wave model, turns them into one go / don't-go score per spot, and shows who's paddling out when.

// HOW IT WORKS

From buoy to beach

  1. 01Read the waterEvery 10 minutes we check four NOAA buoys, plus an hourly wave and wind model and the tide tables. We never touch anyone else’s forecast.
  2. 02One score per spotEach spot has its own swell window, tide band and wind direction. The swell, size, wind and tide add up to one 0–100 score, an estimated size range, and the best window to go.
  3. 03The crew closes the loopFriends vote for a spot and time slot, then report back how it really was. Over time the reports show where the forecast runs big or small.
